We’ve tried to get away from reporting about rumors on the site, but it’s been so long since we’ve heard anyone mention Sam Kieth’s The Maxx, that we are going to let this one slide.
Pop culture blogger, Daniel Richtman is reporting on his Patreon that a Maxx film, which has been in development since 2019, is now moving forward at Paramount with Channing Tatum attached to star in the film. According to the report, Crystal Moselle (The Wolfpack, State Kitchen) is attached to handle both the writing and directing duties on the film.
It’s hard to imagine The Maxx as a live-action film project. From the look of the Maxx himself to the fantastical settings of “The Outback,” This is the kind of project that would lend itself a lot more to a CGI film.
Then, there’s also the question of rating. The Maxx is a very dark story. It is very violent and deals with a lot of very traumatic events. If this movie isn’t rated R, they would have to completely change the storyline.
If you’ve never read The Maxx from Image Comics, or you’ve never seen the animated series that aired on MTV, try to get a hold of them. You are missing out on some amazing storytelling and Sam Kieth’s beautiful and unique art style.
