How is it possible that a really unimpressive adaptation of a children’s story can make Domhnall Gleeson seem more menacing than his Star Wars role of General Hux? Peter Rabbit stars James Corden (The Emoji Movie) as the voice of the titular bunny in a tale that telegraphs it’s ending 20 seconds into the trailer. So, before we get to the inevitable conclusion when Gleeson’s character finds a way to live harmoniously with the animals who are eating his crops, thus giving him continued access to Rose Byrne’s garden, he must first try to kill all the animals through various cartoonish plots. Hell, what do I know… I would have told you that Paddington was going to be a steaming pile of bear scat, but it actually turned out to be a fairly heartwarming picture.
