‘The Report’ – Adam Driver and Amazon Enter The Oscar Race

While Adam Driver won’t be returning as Kylo Ren until Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker won’t be hitting theaters until December 20th, he’ll be popping up in another film a month earlier that won’t make as much money as Star Wars, but could be his best chance at an Oscar so far in his career.

In the film, which is based on actual events, Driver plays Daniel J. Jones a senate staffer for Senator Dianne Feinstein who is tasked with finding out the details of the CIA’s highly controversial advanced interrogation program (ie waterboarding) post 9/11.

Joining Driver in the film is a star-studded cast that also includes Annette Bening,  Sarah Goldberg, Michael C. Hall, Douglas Hodge, Fajer Kaisi, Ted Levine, Jennifer Morrison, Tim Blake Nelson, Linda Powell, Matthew Rhys, T. Ryder Smith, Corey Stoll, Maura Tierney, and Jon Hamm.

The Report hits the big screen on November 15th to make it eligible for Academy Award contention before popping up on Amazon Prime Video on November 29th.

The Report is a riveting political thriller based on actual events. Idealistic staffer Daniel J. Jones (Adam Driver) is tasked by his boss Senator Dianne Feinstein (Annette Bening) to lead an investigation into the CIA’s Detention and Interrogation Program created in the aftermath of 9/11. Tenacious by nature, he pursues the truth when others would have given up, and his explosive findings uncover a conspiracy by top government officials to destroy evidence, subvert the law, and hide a brutal secret from the American public. The Report is written and directed by Scott Z. Burns and features outstanding performances by a powerful ensemble cast that includes Adam Driver, Annette Bening, Sarah Goldberg, Michael C. Hall, Douglas Hodge, Fajer Kaisi, Ted Levine, Jennifer Morrison, Tim Blake Nelson, Linda Powell, Matthew Rhys, T. Ryder Smith, Corey Stoll, Maura Tierney and Jon Hamm.
