The Walking Dead hit NYCC today with some big announcements and a new look at the upcoming Rick and Michonne series set to hit AMC next February. Before we get into that, let’s take a minute to mention the other news from the panel.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is heading for a second season, and if you saw the season 1 finale, you know that Carol is back. She was originally slated to be a co-star in the series from the start, but moving to Europe right after wrapping The Walking Dead wasn’t a realistic solution for Melissa McBride. Now that life has leveled out, she’s back and season two of the series will now be called: The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book Of Carol. The show is currently filming in Europe under a waiver from SAG-AFTRA which allows them to work during the current actor’s strike.

Beyond, Daryl and Carol, the biggest story in The Walking Dead has always been Rick and Michonne. They may have both moved on from the original series, but we’ve known they’d be back to find each other again. First it was supposed to be in a big-screen film, then in a trilogy of direct to TV films, and now we will finally get the story in the upcoming TV series, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.

Details are sparse on the new show, but we’ve seen hints of what’s happened to Rick since he was taken by helicopter to the Commonwealth. It will be as interesting to see how Rick and Michonne find each other as it will be to see if fans are still invested enough in their story to turn in. After all, the last time Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira appeared on screen together was in November of 2018.
