Variety is reporting that Columbia Pictures has hired Kurt Wimmer to write the remake of the 1990 sci-fi saga, “Total Recall.” The original, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, is mainly remembered for two things: a woman with three boobs, and an exploding head.
Wimmer has a few other projects coming up first, but they all point to his ability to write a compelling story with tons of action. He’s finishing up his work on Angelina Jolie’s “Salt” and he’s also co-written “Law Abiding Citizen,” which stars Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler.
“Total Recall” was resurrected for remake earlier this year by the studio and producer Neal Moritz and his Original Films banner. Pic will be a contemporized adaptation of the science fiction saga based on the Philip K. Dick story “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale.”
