Having appeared in “The Hangover,” Zach Galifianakis is the other star not named Bradley Cooper to have found success. While Cooper is trying to fly tanks in the “A-Team,” Galifianakis has a new indie movie called “It’s A Funny Kind of Story.” Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, it follows a teen who checks himself into a mental hospital and rediscovers the joys of his youth. Galifianakis, of course, plays a mental patient at the hospital.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Stressed out from the demands of being a teenager, 16-year-old Craig checks himself into a mental health clinic. There he learns that the youth ward is closed and finds himself stuck in the adult ward. One of the patients, Bobby, soon becomes both Craig’s mentor and protege. Craig is also drawn to another 16-year-old, Noelle. With a minimum five days’ stay imposed on him, Craig is sustained by friendships on both the inside and the outside as he learns more about life, love, and the pressures of growing up.
Looks like a pretty good quirky film and plays right up Galifianakis’ ally. Definitely on my list to watch.
