Begun the theme park wars have. Orlando is the hub of the theme park world and things are about to heat up in the battle for supremacy between Disney World and Univeral Studios Orlando. So fat this summer, Universal has added the Hagrids Motorbike roller-coaster to their Harry Potter land, and Disney is putting the last touches on their soon to open Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land within their Hollywood Studios Park. We also know that Disney is planning major renovations and additions include an Epcot overhaul that will introduce new rides from both Pixar’s Ratatouille and Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy. Meanwhile, Universal is hard at work at their new Pokemon/ Nintendo land. Now, Universal has formally announced that they are opening up a whole new park that will be set a few miles away from their current parks.

The New park has been dubbed ‘Epic Universe’ and details about it are sparse, but there’s a good chance that it could be the home for a land based on the Jurassic World films, as well as a land based on the expansion of the Harry Potter universe, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. Artwork for the park also shows what looks like a pretty big hotel. It will be interesting to see whether it is a standard hotel or if Universal takes a cue from Disney’s planned Star Wars hotel and creates something based on the Potter Universe. One thing is for sure, at 750-acres, the new park will double the amount of land that Universal Studio has in Orlando and create a massive new threat to Disney World.
