“Watchmen” Ends 11-Month Run As Top-Selling Graphic Novel

For the first since June 2008, Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ “Watchmen” wasn’t the best-selling graphic novel in U.S. bookstores last month.

According to pop culture business site ICv2, “Watchmen” fell to #2 in the monthly report on bookstore graphic novel sales, replaced by Vol. 27 of Tite Kubo’s “Bleach” manga. This comes as no surprise since sales of manga volumes like “Bleach” and “Naturo” traditionally dominate the month’s rankings.

Other comic books that were reported include DC’s “Final Crisis” hardcover by Grant Morrison which came in at #6, and Vol. 4 of Dark Horse’s “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” at #18.

It is believed that the sales of “Watchmen” will spike again with the director’s of of the film hitting selected theaters July 17, and both the Blu-Ray and DVD arriving a week later on July 25.
