We know that Florence Pugh is playing Yelena Belova in the new Black Widow movie and that the character did become the new Black Widow in the pages of Marvel Comics. So, the question now becomes whether or not that storyline will stick in the MCU.
It’s actually been rumored that the “Fighting with our Family” star was set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the newest incarnation of the character made famous by Scarlett Johansson. But, a new report wants to believe that all is not what it appears to be. Here’s what Florence had to say in on the matter in a new interview with Uproxx
“I am saying it very honestly, it certainly didn’t feel like a passing of the torch kind of film when we were making it. And I think the direction and the feeling and the vibe behind it was genuinely just trying to make this complicated and painful story. And do it justice because a lot of fans have been waiting for her film. And also a lot of people I think will appreciate this story.”
“Kate’s done an amazing job on showing these two girls and, I suppose, facing their history and facing their pain. The direction was more on that front. But I’m happy that people have appreciated the trailer and I’m looking forward to watching it.”
