If you were dying to watch Johnny Depp and Forest Whittaker try to solve the murder of the Notorious B.I.G, we’ve got some bad news for you. It’s just been announced that the film has been pulled from it’s scheduled release next month and there has not been any follow up on a new date.
There’s a good chance that this may have less to do with the film’s quality than it does with some legal action. Depp allegedly assaulted the film’s location manager Gregg Brooks and Brooks is now suing both Johnny Depp and his production company, Infinitum Nihil production company. According to the lawsuit Depp allegedly became agitated his then hit Brooks multiple times after being informed that a day of shooting would be running late.
It could very well be that the studio is waiting for the lawsuit to be resolved before releasing the film. That said, there is also a chance that the studio doesn’t have much faith in the film and we will be seeing an announcement in upcoming days about a streaming network buying the rights to the film. That is the fate that recently befell Andy Serkis’ Jungle Book adaptation, Mowgli.
