Since their announcement at the 2012 New York International Toy Fair in February, fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Mezco’s Universal Monsters. The first Monster to hit stores shelves was Mezco’s 9inch Frankenstein figure and to say sales have been brisk would be an understatement.
“This is one of those items that we warned retailers about” said Mike Drake, Mezco’s Director Of Special Projects, “we knew this was going to be a popular line and told retailers to order deep, and now those who did are reaping the rewards!”
Mezco itself is already sold out of Frankenstein, but several online retailers still have him in stock:
The Frankenstein figure was the focus of a pictorial by renowned toy photographer Jason Jerde in Famous Monsters issue #263. “The FM pictorial caused a stir” says Drake, “To have the legendary Famous Monsters give our Frankenstein a thumbs up is as close as you can get to a Monster Seal Of Approval!”
At the famous Universal Monster Army website, reaction has also been overwhelmingly positive towards the line, with many collectors expressing excitement over Mezco’s next monstrous offering: an 18inch Monster Size Frankenstein.
