In a year where a whopping 9 films were nominated for Best Picture, “American Hustle” and “Gravity” lead the pack with 10 nominations each. Unsurprisingly, there were also several actors and directors who got snubbed. Most notably, Tom Hanks was not nominated for either of his big roles this year in Captain Phillips or Saving Mr Banks. Also, Spike Jonze may have snagged a best picture Nomination for Her, but he didn’t get one for best director. Also surprising, The controversial documentary Blackfish was left out of the party, along with the critically acclaimed documentary from Penn and Teller: Tim’s Vermeer.
