Robert Burden is an artist. His paintings are epic “portraits” of small action figures he (and us) once played with as a child. After discovering a box of his old toys he was disappointed with what he had found. The reality of toys however did not live up to his childhood memories.
“The ineffability of what can turn a cheap piece of plastic into an object of talismanic object was the original inspiration for this work.”
Burden’s collection basically tries to paint the deception of the toys to be better than the real object, while still maintaining the sense that its still a toy.
