Talk about the pits! Stinky city bus riders in Hawaii may soon be ticked for having BO.
The Honolulu City Council is considering a bill that would impose up to a $500 fine and/or up to six months in jail for public transit passengers convicted of being too smelly.
If this bill passes, it would make it illegal to have “odors that unreasonably disturb others or interfere with their use of the transit system.”
It also would not matter where the oder comes from whether from ones body, or offensive fumes that emanates from clothes, personal belongings or animals.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Hawaii says it is concerned with laws that are inherently vague, which opens the door to discriminatory enforcement based on an officer’s individual prejudices.
Yes, with the world going green it’s about time someone regulated this for air quality purposes! But then… what happens when you accidentally fart while on transit? Guess passengers in Hawaii better learn to hold it in, or have the world’s greatest poker face.
