If you thought shape-shifting liquid metal was the kind of thing you’d only see from the T-1000’s in the Terminator films, you are in for a big surprise.
Scientists at the University of Sussex and Swansea University have found that when you apply electricity to liquid metal, you can manipulate it into 2D shapes. The potential result could mean a major leap forward for soft robotics and the eventual Terminators that will decimate mankind. Before we end up with Robert Patrick asking you if you’ve ‘Seen this boy?’, it’s more likely that we’ll see the new class of metals being used in liquid metal circuits.
