Artist and woodcarver, Jeffrey Michael Samudosky’s favorite medium is the trees of the Pacific Northwest where he lives. His latest project uses a local tree to pay homage to a local sea creature, the Giant Pacific Octopus.

As if Redwoods weren’t beautiful enough already, Samudosky has taken the trunk of one fallen tree and brought it new life. He’s carved in life-like tentacles and features that give an illusory appearance that the octopus is actually on the tree, rather than part of it.
