One of the films I’m most looking forward to this summer is Universal and Rupert Sander’s “Snow White and the Huntsman.” I was sold pretty hard by the first trailer, and having seen more of it at this years Wondercon, it has only made me want to see this film even more.
At the panel today, lucky fans got a chance to catch a special five-minute promo cut for the film. The compilation begins with King Magnu’s knights destroying the Queen’s Shadow Army. It cuts to a new scene of Snow White trying to escape from the Queen’s dungeon. As soon as she makes her way out of the dungeon and into the woods, she runs into a tree beast. It then cuts to the Huntsman, who’s been hired by the Queen to bring back Snow White. We then get to see the seven dwarfs who’ve apprehended both the Huntsman and Snow White. But eventually as we all know, the dwarfs side with Snow White (after finding out that she’s the daughter of the King).
Overall, the footage was action packed and visually quite impressive. It maintained the dark intensity that I really enjoyed from the trailer. Kristen Stewart makes an excellent non traditional Snow White. She also apparently knocks out more men than the other way around, according to Sander.
“Snow White and the Huntsman” opens June 1st. The film stars Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, Nick Frost, Bob Hoskins and Ray Winstone.
If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, be sure to check it out. Trust me, this isn’t your Disney Snow White!
