‘Jurassic World 2’ is probably the most highly anticipated sequel to a dinosaur movie since ‘Jurassic Park 2.’ With a box office take of over $1.6 billion worldwide, the studio is in a hurry to see if they can capture lightning in a bottle again. This time, however, they want to make sure that they drive home a larger message than: “Hey, look how cool those big lizards are when they eat people!”
Time Magazine had a chat with Colin Trevorrow , the director of the first film and producer of the second, about what fans can expect when the sequel hits theaters in 2018. Here’s what he had to say:
“The dinosaurs will be a parable of the treatment animals receive today: the abuse, medical experimentation, pets, having wild animals in zoos like prisons, the use the military has made of them, animals as weapons.”
Yay! A Message in our summer blockbusters! Woo! I’m SOOOOOO thrilled. I want a Jurassic Park franchise film to teach me about animal cruelty like I want a Kardashian to teach me about self-restraint.
