Hilary Duff just broke my heart a little. Not only has she been cast in another movie, but she’s cast in a classic role that I just can’t see her having the chops for. Who knows maybe she’ll prove me wrong. I’ve never seen her take on any action or drama roles before so I might be way off base. That said, casting her to play Bonnie in the new film version of Bonnie and Clyde is kind of like Asking one of the Powerpuff girls to play against William Hurt in Children of a Lesser God.
This week’s Production Weekly says that production will begin in April in the Deep South, with Tonya S. Holly (When I Find the Ocean) directing Duff, Kevin Zegers, Natalie Canerday and Rance Howard. The plot description offers up nothing but the details of Bonnie and Clyde’s lives.
So far they have not made any references to it being a remake of the classic starting Warren Beatty and Faye Dunhaway, but you just know its gonna happen. There’s so little originality that now they even have to remake movies about historical characters.
