Army of The Dead was a fun, popcorn flick from Zack Snyder. It wasn’t the best film, but it was good for a rainy afternoon. Now, it’s a cinematic universe, because even the taco I had for lunch yesterday is a cinematic universe. Dave Bautista’s character is getting his own animated series and Matthias Schweighöfer’s safecracker, Ludwig Dieter is getting his own prequel film on the streaming network. Now we are getting our first look at the new project: Army of Thieves. Matthias Schweighöfer isn’t just the star of the film, he’s also behind the camera as director, based on a story by Zack Snyder and Shay Hatten.

Joining Schweighöfer are Nathalie Emmanuel, Ruby O. Fee, Stuart Martin, Guz Khan, and Jonathan Cohen. We should expect to see the film sometime this fall, but no official date has been revealed.

In this prequel to Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, small-town bank teller Dieter gets drawn into the adventure of a lifetime when a mysterious woman recruits him to join a crew of Interpol’s most wanted criminals, attempting to heist a sequence of legendary, impossible-to-crack safes across Europe.
