Last week we wrote that Chris Evans was offered the role of Captain American from Marvel Studios. Today, Evans has officially accepted the offer.
THR reports that Chris Evans is officially the star of “The First Avenger: Captain America,” after having accepted an offer to star as Steve Rogers in not only “Captain America,” but nine other Marvel features.
Evans’ would join the Marvel’s holy trinity of heroes that include Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and Chris Hemsworth as Thor. That’s not to say Evans is in the clear. A few obstacles are still in the way, namely his previous commitment to appear opposite Anna Faris in “What’s Your Number?,” a romantic comedy slated to begin shooting around the same time as “Captain America.”
Additionally, it’s unsure how fans will react with Evans as the lead and leader of the Avengers having already played another Marvel superhero in the “Fantastic Four” and “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,” as Johnny Storm, the Human Torch.
If Evans does clear “waivers” so to speak, Evans would officially have starred in at least five comic book adaptations that includes the upcoming “The Losers,” and “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, “as well as the comic book inspired film, “Push.”
