THR is reporting that “Cleveland,” the upcoming spinoff from hit “Family Guy,” is already being offered a second season. That means that before the show has ever aired, 35 episodes will have been ordered from the network.

The animated comedy, centered on the Cleveland Brown character from “Family Guy,” was originally targeted for a debut this spring. But in November, the network decided to push the launch to fall 2009 to give the creative team more time for development and production. At the same time, Fox showed its confidence in the project by picking up another nine episodes, bringing the total order to a full season of 22 episodes.

While this is good news for Family Guy fans, there’s a very good chance that this show will suck just as hard if not harder than Sit Down, Shut Up. That said, you have to admire a show like Family Guy that can get canceled, make a come back, and then spawn a spin-off. I guess the sun does shine on a dog’s ass once in a while.
