The first trailer just hit for the upcoming movie adaptation of Ratchet and Clank. For the second time in a month, I’ve been surprised to see a video game movie trailer not suck. The bar was a little higher for this one than it was for Angry Birds, but I’ve got to give them credit. The trailer for this movie seems to capture all the action and humor of the game series… It almost feels like a super long cut scene.
I’m really happy to see that they’ve kept the original voice cast of the games for the movie (James Arnold Taylor as Ratchet, David Kaye as Clank, and Jim Ward as Captain Qwark). Joining them along the way will be Paul Giamatti, John Goodman, Bella Thorne, Rosario Dawson, Armin Shimerman, and Sylvester Stallone.
Ratchet and Clank tells the story of two unlikely heroes as they struggle to stop a vile alien named Chairman Drek from destroying every planet in the Solana Galaxy. When the two stumble upon a dangerous weapon capable of destroying entire planets, they must join forces with a team of colorful heroes called The Galactic Rangers in order to save the galaxy. Along the way they’ll learn about heroism, friendship, and the importance of discovering one’s own identity.
