It’s not easy being FOX. Sure, they just posted a record setting box office take for 2014, but their relationship with the source of some of their top licenses, Marvel seems to be out to get them. In retaliation for not giving Silver Surfer back to Marvel Studios, the house of ideas has already cancelled the Fantastic Four comic book, killing a huge marketing source for the film. They’ve also threatened to follow suit with the X-Men and some of their other mutant titles out of retaliation. Even more, Marvel Studios is bringing in the Inhumans and the Terrigen Mists, essentially giving them an end run around FOX and allowing them to bring “mutation” into the MCU. Still, that isn’t going to stop FOX to squeeze every ounce they can out of the licenses they do control.

A few hours ago, FOX formally announced the release date for their X-Men spin-off, Gambit, starring Channing Tatum. The oddly cast film is now set to land in theaters on Oct. 7, 2016.

Meanwhile, They are jumping ahead to a second film in their Fantastic Four Reboot and moving the sequel up a month from July 14, 2017 to June 2, 2017. Taking it’s place will be the next Planet of the Apes film.
