It looks like Hasbro’s “Ouija” movie project is on the roll again. THR reports that Hasbro and Platinum Dunes have hired “Fright Night” writer Marti Noxon to pen the script. Noxon got her first start writing for “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”

Ouija is still studioless after having been dropped by Universal due to budget concerns. But the project is moving forward with the Noxon hiring giving it new life.

The film based on the supernatural board game of the same name is said to be a family adventure in the same venue as “Jumanji” where ““a family who has to deal with otherwordly chaos that is unleashed.”

Jumanji was a pretty exciting film for its time and I remember enjoying it. With the supernatural elements I think “Ouija” has the potential to be a good family film. Hasbro seems to have a lot of confidence in it as they will be financing and spearhead its own development.
