We’ve finally got an update on Del Toro’s Pinocchio film and it looks like it might be a much different film than people were expecting. I had always been under the impression that the film would be live action with CGI elements. It turns out that I was wrong.
Deadline is reporting that the film will be stop motion animated and will be produced by Shadowmachine. Also, the film will be co-directed by both Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson. The script was written by Del Toro and is based off the original story book by Carlo Collodi. Also on hand is the Jim Henson Company who will be running the show from Shadowmachine’s studio in LA>
This is a big deal for ShadowMachine as this is only their second major feature production. Their first, Hell And Back, an R-rated stop-motion animated comedy that stars Mila Kunis, Nick Swardson, TJ Miller Bob Odenkirk, Rob Riggle and Susan Sarandon is currently being filmed.
Unlike the Disney film that the character is best known for, this story will follow the puppet who wanted to be a boy through the first two World Wars.
Most people are best acquainted with ShadowMachine from their work on the Adult Swim programs: Robot Chicken, Titan Maximum and the always awesome -Moral Orel.
