There’s a general rule of clickbait that says “When you title a post with a question to get attention, the answer to the question is always no.” Well, that’s not the case today. Joker 2 is really the only DC film that is actually greenlit from Warner Bros right now according to a new article from Variety. There is little doubt that the planned sequel to Robert Pattinson’s Batman film will get greenlit, especially considering Matt Reeve’s new deal with the studio, but that film will not get greenlit until the script is finished.

There’s still stuff out there. Blue Beetle is in production and there’s been no word of it being shut down, but beyond that… who knows? Marvel has what looks like the next half decade planned out to the minute, but WB is currently flying by the seat of their pants.

This isn’t even just an issue with their movies. On the small screen there are multiple irons in the fire. There’s Peacemaker season 2, which James Gunn says is in development, but hasn’t been made official. There are two spin-offs from the Batman movie (Colin Ferrel’s Penguin series and an Arkham series), and we’ll say that they are a lock because of the Reeves development deal. Then there’s several other shows that have become fan favorites.

When you consider the recent culling of animated shows like Infinity Train, OKKO, and others from HBO Max, there’s a big question as to whether Zaslav will let Harley Quinn or Young Justice continue. Afterall, he did just kill the new Batman animated series from Bruce Timm and Paul Dini. Then you’ve got live action shows like Titans and Doom Patrol. Both of them have strong fan bases, but it’s debatable whether they have enough viewers to justify their cost. Finally, you’ve got planned shows from JJ Abram’s Bad Robot that include “Constantine” and “Madame Xanadu.”
