Happy New Year! It’s been really hard to get excited for any of the Sony Spider-Verse films that don’t feature Spider-Man. Venom and Venom 2 were decent, but Morbius could best be described as hot garbage, and the trailers for both Kraven the Hunter and Madame Web have left most people less than thrilled.

With a release date set for Valentine’s Day, Madame Web has dropped a new promo for the film that sees the film’s stars give their New Year’s wishes. Spoiler alert: They want you to see the movie. Along with the interview footage, the teaser also features some new footage, with much of it being the cast in their various spider-costumes.

This feels like a set up for bait and switch. Watching a trailer like this, you’d think that half the movie is in costumes. We’re putting our money on somewhere between 10-20 minutes.

“Meanwhile, in another universe…” In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures…if they can all survive a deadly present.
