While the sequels to both Kick-Ass and Kingsman met with a lot less success than their predecessors, Matthew Vaughn isn’t done trying to squeeze every last drop of box-office money that he can from them. In a new interview with Empire, he’s announced that he’s working on a new Kick-Ass movie and a new Hit-Girl movie. The Kick-Ass film will probably feature Patience Lee as the main character, and the Hit-Girl movie will either be a deeper dive into her childhood with Big Daddy, or it may focus on a grown-up version of the character. As to who might play Patience Lee in a Kick-Ass reboot, writer Mark Millar has been very open about his desire to cast Thor: Ragnarok actress Tessa Thompson. However, with her upcoming Ghostbusters reboot (alongside Ragnarok co-star, Chris Hemsworth), and the probability that Marvel has plenty of plans for her, it’s not too likely that she’ll be available any time soon.
Meanwhile, while Kingsman: The Golden Circle only pulled in $100 million at the US Box Office, the fact that it pulled in an additional $300 million overseas means that we’ll be getting a capper to the “Harry Hart-Eggsy relationship” trilogy, as well as an 8 episode spin-off called Kingsman: The Great Game, and possibly even a Statesman film.
It will be interesting to see how many of these projects make it to completion.
