I’ve really enjoyed the new Planet of The Apes series. I’ll admit that it’s another old franchise I didn’t see the point in redoing, but Matt Reeves has paid enouh respect to the original saga, while still creating something entirely new, that the first two films have been a pleasure to watch. Though, I think a lot of the credit for that goes to Andy Serkis and the truly amazing job he’s done on the motion capture acting of Cesar.

The new trailer not only gives us a deeper look at the dynamic between Cesar and Woody Harrelson’s “Colonel, ” but we also see a lot more of the subplot of one of the gorillas betraying the apes and going to work with the humans.

In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.
