The Predator sequels have not been good. That includes the AVP movies and it definitely includes Shane Black’s 2018 “The Predator.” Now, Hulu of all places is releasing the latest chapter in the franchise and we’re going forward by going back to the past with Prey.
In Prey, Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane; The Boys), tells the story of what happened 300 years ago when the Predator goes up against a small tribe from the Comanche Nation. What gives this film so much potential is that they’ve eliminated all the techno-wizardry that humans have been using for the last film and making it really about the predator/prey relationship.
The film stars Amber Midthunder (Legion; The Ice Road) Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp (Sooyii), Michelle Thrush (The Journey Home) and Julian Black Antelope (Tribal), and Dane DiLiegro (American Horror Stories) as the Predator.
Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, “Prey” is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.
