Psych may have ended several years ago, but it continues to be one of the most beloved series to come out of the USA Network. A couple years back, USA aired a Psych movie that went over well among fans, but was missing one of the show’s main characters, Carlton Lassiter (Timothy Omundson). In real life, Omundson had just suffered a severe stroke. In fact, the short appearance he made in the film by phone was at the early stages of his recovery. Since then, Omundson has continued his recover and has returned to acting. He now appears in a recurring role on NBC’s This Is Us.
In the new film Sean and Gus (James Roday and Dulé Hill) have returned from San Francisco as Lassiter is attacked and left for dead. This gives Omundson a chance to play a good-sized role in the film, while not having to do much in the way of action. While trying to solve the crime of what happened to Lassie, his character starts seeing things that could have a supernatural origin in the recovery clinic. Cue up plenty of hijinx and at least one hidden pineapple.
The new film was co-written by James Roday, Psych creator Steve Franks, and Andy Berman. Joining Roday, Hill, and Omundson are returning cast members Maggie Lawson, Kirsten Nelson, and Corbin Bernsen as well as Joel McHale, Jimmi Simpson, Sarah Chalke, Kadeem Hardison, Allison Miller, and Richard Schiff.
