At last weekend’s Wizard World Chicago-Con, Ray Parks (Darth Maul, Snake-eyes) was asked what his most coveted role to-date was, and according to Comics Alliance, the Scottish actor did not hesitate to say the martial artist superhero Iron Fist.
A role Park has been courting since a possible “Iron Fist” adaptation had been announced some time ago, Park told audience members, “I actually want to be Danny Rand — I want to be Iron Fist, I want to do it.”
“I’ve been blond before. I’ll work on the American accent as well.”
Park also joked that one of the main reasons he wants the role is to shed his typecast more clothed roles (ninja costume, Sith robe, prosthetic make-up) for something a bit more revealing.
“I want to have an excuse to take my top off and show off my abs,” he joked. “Or, take my top off and work to get my abs back that I used to have when I was 19.”
Park also spoke about his former attachment to “Iron Fist” in 2001 when Artisan Entertainment held its rights. But now that the rights have reverted back to Marvel, Parks believes that a solo film may not be possible. Instead, he believes that a possible “Heroes for Hire” movie is more likely. A movie that will feature not just Danny Rand, the Iron Fist, but also his long time best friend Luke Cage.
“If they ever do an ‘Iron Fist’ movie, it’s going to be with the two [characters] teaming up.”
Park can currently be seen as Snake-eyes in Paramount’s “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” and as Rugal in the upcoming video game adaptation “King of Fighters.”
