Robert Rodriguez’s films are so heavily animated that it makes sense that his next film would be an adaptation of a classic cartoon.
The Sin City director has just signed on to direct a live action reboot of Hanna-Barbera’s Jonny Quest for Warner Bros. He’ll also be writing the script with an assist from Terry Rossio, the writer of the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
This isn’t the first time that Jonny Quest has come close to the big screen. A few years back a movie was in development with Zac Efron as Jonny and Dwayne Johnson as Race Bannon.

Superman is currently scheduled for release on July 11, 2025
The new series is set for a two-episode premiere, June 4 on Disney+.
