Scarlett Johansson can’t catch a break. Last year, she found herself at the center of a ‘white-washing’ controversy over her casting in Ghost In The Shell. Many fans were upset that a white woman was being cast in the adaptation of an anime. The problem was further compacted by the fact that it turned out her character in the film was actually a Japanese girl.

This time around Johansson is set to star in Rub and Tug, a biographical film about Dante ‘Tex’ Gill, who owned a chain of mob-connected massage parlors in Pittsburgh during the 1970’s. The problem is that Tex also happened to be a female to male Trans person. As a result, many people are now taking to social media with the complaint that the role should be played by a Trans actor.

Having already gone through a similar problem with her role in Ghost in the Shell, it sounds like Johansson is non-plussed by her response. According to Bustle, the actress had this to say about her detractors:
“Tell them that they can be directed to Jeffrey Tambor, Jared Leto, and Felicity Huffman’s reps for comment.”
