We’ve heard all kinds of stories about on set accidents from the very public filmings of The Dark Knight Rises and Marvel’s The Avengers, but this is the first time that we’ve heard of one of the lead actors accidentally knocking out his leading lady.
The story is that Robert Downey Jr was on set with Scarlett Johansson. This might be his third movie in the Iron Man costume, but apparently he is still learning all of the bells and whistles. While playing with the buttons that control one of the costume’s arms, Downey accidentally hit the control to make the arm suddenly extend… into Scarlett Johansson’s face.
Spectators say she was: “Knocked silly, she staggered backward, then lost her balance and fell off the low platform they were standing on.”
Downey was so bogged down by the weight of the costume that he couldn’t do anything but stand and watch as other came to her aid. In the end, she was fine and is laughing about it. Downey is reportedly beside himself.
Well, Johansson did say that she wanted more action scenes.
