Shadow in The Cloud looks like it has a fun premise. Chloë Grace Moretz stars as a mysterious woman being escorted on a secret mission to deliver a secret box in the middle of WWII. There are monsters, there’s mayhem, and there’s a ton of general badassery. There’s also a ham-fisted, cartoonish level of misogamy that’s used to show the men who are flying the escort plane are jerks who will learn a big lesson when they underestimate the girl with the box. They go so far out of the way to let you know this in the trailer that it kind of takes away from the vibe of what looks like it could be a great story otherwise.

The new film comes from the producer of Atomic Blonde and Deadpool 2. Along with Moretz, the film stars Nick Robinson, Beulah Koale, and Taylor John Smith. Shadow in the Cloud crashes onto video on demand on January 1, 2021.
