Simon Pegg On What Star Wars is Missing…

Simon Pegg is no stranger to Star Wars. Along with being a lifelong fan of the franchise, he played Unkar Plutt in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and he even helped JJ Abrams with the storyline. Recently, Pegg made news for publicly apologizing for his own fan rage towards the character of Jar Jar Binks when he found out that Ahmed Best, the actor who played the role, had contemplated suicide after the onslaught of fan hatred. More recently, he hasn’t been shy about talking about some changes that Rian Johnson made to the Roadmap left by Abrams when he made Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

With Star Wars: Episode IX now filming, and Abrams back at the wheel, he isn’t shying away from letting it be known how he felt about The Last Jedi.

In a new interview on the Adam Buxton Podcast, he had this to say:
“I must admit, watching the last Star Wars film, the overriding feeling I got when I came out was, ‘I miss George Lucas. For all the complaining that I’d done about him in the prequels, there was something amazing about his imagination. I do feel like his voice is missing from the current ones.”

For disgruntled fans, the new statement comes as validation for those who were left cold by the most recent installment of the Star Wars saga. It will be interesting to see how he feels when Episode IX hits theaters at the end of next year.
