Full Trailer Released For Dumbo

The parade of Disney Live-Action remakes moves forward, and this time we’ve got Tim Burton’s take on Dumbo. The new film stars Michael Keaton, Danny Devito, Collin Farrell, Eva Green, Alan Arkin, Finley Hobbins, and Nico Parker. The new movie feels very much like Burton’s work on Big Fish and Big Eyes. It’s almost a wonder that they didn’t name this one Big Ears.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the original Dumbo, so I’m not sure how much of the film is true to the old version. It looks like Timothy the mouse might be in the film, but his character will be replaced by two children with a father struggling to deal with PTSD from the war. You can also bet that the iconically racist crows will be nowhere to be seen.

Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.

Dumbo opens in theaters on March 29, 2019.
