It’s a good time to be Steven Spielberg. The man could easily just sit back and live comfortably off the royalties for any one of his iconic films, but the 69 year old director is getting ready to release The BFG, and is working on Ready, Player One and a new Indiana Jones Film.
In a new profile from THR, Spielberg poked fun a little fun at his Indiana Jones star and the other long-running franchise that stabbed him in the chest and dropped him into a bottomless pit.
Regarding the upcoming film, he said:
“I think this one is straight down the pike for the fans. The one thing I will tell you is I’m not killing off Harrison [Ford] at the end of it.”
Now, he did say Harrison Ford, not Indiana Jones, but there’s a good chance that he’s going to let the professor meander off into the sunset. For me, I would actually really be OK with Jones being killed off and the torch being passed. Please God, just don’t pass it Shia Lebouf.

Indiana Jones 5 will hit theaters in 2019, when Harrison Ford is 73. For reference, that’s 14 years older than Sean Connery was when Last Crusade hit theaters in 1989.
