Many have suspected SpongeBob SquarePants’ sexuality for years.
In the early 2000s, both Nickelodeon and the series creator Stephen Hillenburg have denied that he was anything other than asexual… but perhaps that’s now changing.
In an official tweet recognizing the Pride month of June, Nickelodeon has officially made a reveal alluding to SpongeBob’s sexuality.
While not directly saying outright, SpongeBob is shown in all his rainbow colored glory along other canon characters — Schwoz Schwartz from ‘Henry Danger’ and Korra from the ‘Avatar’ spin-off show ‘Legend of Korra’– that are of the LGBTQ+ community.
