By now, I’m sure that just about all of you have seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Now, we are all in the same boat… waiting. The good news is that the wheels are turning and the machine is moving forward on getting Episode VIII on to the big screen. News came down today that the script is complete and filming is set to begin in January. We’ve got other reports that some filming has in fact already taken place at… well at the same place where the new film ended.

We’ve got so many questions. The Force has been awakened and the bar has been set.

Abrams will be producing, but Looper’s Rian Johnson is taking over as director. Here’s what Abrams had to say about transitioning from the foundation that he laid down in The Force Awakens and what Johnson is doing:

“The story he told took what we were doing and went in the direction he felt was the best but that is very much in line with what we were thinking as well.”

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until May 26, 2017 to see Star Wars Episode VIII, but at least we’ll have Rogue One to break up the wait on December 16, 2016.
