It had already been widely reported that Justin Lin would be teaming up with Arnold Schwarzenegger to make the next ‘Terminator’ film, but the truth behind the scenes is that there was a big auction going on between Megan Ellison, who was on the side of Lin and Schwarzenegger, and Lionsgate.
When the dust was settled, Ellison won with a bid that was reportedly between $20 and 29.5 million dollars. The result is that she now has the controlling rights for the next two Terminator movies.
Based on the information available, it looks like the plan is to have Justin Lin, who is riding high off of “Fast Five,” direct a two picture story that would wrap up the whole Skynet storyline.
