In a new interview with Fandango, It and It: Chapter 2 director, Andy Muschietti has confirmed that he will be directing the long-delayed Flash movie for Warner Bros.
At present, Ezra Miller (Fantastic Beasts franchise) is set to reprise the role of The Flash that he portrayed in The Justice League film, but there have been rumors that he has either left the role or been booted for months now. The movie has been delayed several times, partially due to creative differences involving Ezra wanting a darker tale than the comedy Warner Bros wanted to make. There was even a rumor at one point that Miller was taking a stab at re-writing the script himself.
Now, the creative team has been completely replaced. Writing a new script for the film is Bumblebee, Birds of Prey scribe, Christina Hodson. Add to that the news of Muschietti confirming his involvement and that’s a pretty great start on a reboot of a character that failed to wow most fans in his last cinematic outing.
Here’s what Andy had to say about the upcoming comic book film:
“An element of horror? I don’t think so. What captivated me about the Flash is the human drama in it. The human feelings and emotions that play in the drama [of it]. It’s going to be fun, too. I can’t promise that there will be any horror [elements in it], really, but it’s a beautiful human story.”
