It’s a safe bet that the new season of The Walking Dead is probably going to be delayed. We are just days away from the time where we normally get our first trailer for the season, but instead, we are currently still waiting for filming to begin in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Even the new Walking Dead Spin-off has been heavily delayed by the Coronavirus. So, what’s going on with the Rick Grimes Film? You remember that, right? That whole movie that was planned to tell the story of what happens to Rick (and probably Michonne) after he’s hauled away in a helicopter? Well, it’s delayed, but still happening and Comicbook.com was able to get some details on the film from both Skybound’s David Alpert and Robert Kirkman himself.

Here’s what Alpert, the co-founder of Skybound Entertainment had to say:

“We’re coming along in a big way. We’re just in this particular space where we have [to wait]. We can’t shoot right now, so that’s just the big thing holding us back.”

“We are desperate to get back into production, and get everything going,” he continued, “but we have something really exciting, really unique, really different, and can’t wait to get it going. We just have to wait for it to be safe.”

Here’s the update from Kirkman:

“There’s tons of stuff going on behind the scenes. I don’t want anyone to think that we’re just kind of waiting around for this pandemic to end.”

“I would say that, if anything, the pandemic is going to make a lot of movies better. I think the Rick Grimes movie chief among them, just because we’re getting a lot more time to cook this thing and make sure it’s perfect. But when things do quiet down, you guys are going to hear a ton more about this movie.”
