It’s become pretty common that a TV series gets renewed before season one of the show hits the small screen, but it’s pretty rare that a show gets renewed for a second season before the first one even begins production. Deadline is reporting that’s exactly what Amazon has just done for the new prequel series based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Last week we learned that the new series will take place well before the stories we’ve come to From The Hobbit, Fellowship of the Rings, The Two Kings, and the other books of Tolkien. This time around we’ll be focusing on Sauron’s rise to power and the eventual battle that separated him from his finger and the one ring.
The good news for fans is that this early renewal means we won’t have to wait as long between seasons one and two.
