When we originally heard the news that they were making a Twisted Metal TV series based on the classic Playstation game, we thought it was a pretty dumb idea. When the first teasers came out, we were still convinced that it was going to be a disaster. However, a new trailer for the show dropped today and for the first time, it’s all starting to make sense.

With a cast that includes Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, Neve Campbell, and the voice of Will Arnett, this new trailer sets up an actual story that has the potential to be very interesting. The trailer is action-packed and genuinely funny. Why they took this long to show us something good is beyond us, but now we’re looking forward to the show’s premiere on Peacock at the end of the month.

Twisted Metal, a half-hour live-action TV series based on the classic PlayStation game series, is a high-octane action comedy, based on an original take by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and written by Michael Jonathan Smith, about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.
