Science is cool, and nature is awesome. even when the examples you find from nature are already dead. If you’ve ever seen two moose locked in combat, you know that it is serious business. It’s not uncommon for one of the animals to die in the battle. For these two moose, neither of them was lucky enough to escape with their lives.
The amazing sight was found by Brad Ungalek Webster and Jeff Erickson, in Unalakleet, Alaska. It seems that after these two moose became entangled in battle, they fell in the water, where they were eventually frozen together in the ice.
A lot of people are trying to make these images into some sort of political statement about the nation right now. Personally, I think that’s stupid. It’s an awesome sight of two amazing creatures, frozen in time. Don’t cheapen it with politics, just enjoy it.
To show you what this might have been like, here’s a video of an actual Moose fight.
