Mega online retailer Amazon.com has recently come under heavy fire for selling a fantasy “rape simulator” video game where the object is to stalk your victims and then rape them in a virtual world.
Reviews of the game have expressed disgust at the basis of the game which involves stalking, sexually assaulting and “breaking” mothers and daughters, described as “virgin schoolgirls” that show tears as they are assaulted. Rewards are awarded to players who successfully force their rape victims to have abortions after they become pregnant. And if babies are born, the woman will kill off the players by pushing them in front of an oncoming train. The game also features a “freeform mode” where the player can recruit other male game characters to gang rape the women and perform acts of bondage.
After complaints by the Belfast Telegraph, Amazon has since pulled the game. Amazon however would not comment on the item or say why it had been offered for sale originally through their website.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for Illusion said, “We believe there is no problem with the software, which has cleared the domestic ratings of an ethics watchdog body.” The game is still currently available on Amazon Japan.
