It seems like every day, there’s a new story about some company creating a new replacement for meat, leave it up to Arby’s to come up with a meat-based replacement for Vegetables.
Behold the Marrot. First in a new breed of meat-based veggies, or Megatables as they are currently calling them. The Marrot may look, and even taste like a carrot, but when you slice into it, you’ll find that it is 100% turkey breast on the inside.
The Marrot achieves its color and flavor by cheating. Once they form and parcook the turkey in a sous vide, they roll it in carrot juice powder and roast it in the oven for an hour. To me, this feels like a cop out. It would be kind of of like coming up with a vegetarian substitute for beef that was flavored with beef powder. If I wanted veggies on my meat, I could just have veggies on my meat! Arby’s, you can do better. Still, this is pretty dang cool.
